Canot-Camping Rivière Malbaie
Aug 27, 2025
A Canoe-camping trip on “Rivière De La Malbaie” starting from the Hautes Gorges National Park for 3 nights and 4 days, self-sufficient.
Arrived at the Hautes Gorges park, we explored the calm part of the river to take photos and practice basic paddle strokes. You had to know the basics well before tackling the rapids. The landscape in the mist, in the rain, was simply sublime.
After a few kilometers of descent, this is where we set up our camp and relaxed in front of the fire.
The next day greeted us with perfect weather, crisp air, a deep blue sky painted with thick, drifting clouds. We found our place for the night on a rocky beach, raw and open, with a clear view of the heavens above. It felt like the kind of spot where time slows down.
As soon as we arrived, the familiar rhythm began: setting up camp, laying our damp clothes out to dry in the last warmth of the sun, gathering wood, and coaxing a fire to life. The scent of smoke blended with the river air while supper simmered quietly by the flames.
That night, the moon rose in full brilliance, casting a silver glow over the waves and the stones around us. The stars shimmered overhead, scattered across the dark like salt on slate. We sat in quiet awe, soaking in the moment, grateful, a little tired, and completely alive.
By morning, only the final kilometers of the journey remained. With hearts full and legs aching just enough to remind us of the path behind, we packed up slowly, not quite ready to say goodbye to this wild, fleeting chapter.
