JAMIL SLIM
Hi there, I am Jamil
Thank you so much for taking the time for your visit here.
I saw the first light when I was born in 1988 in Dakar, Senegal. I lived in different countries in West Africa, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Togo before moving to Canada at 17 years old.
I have always been passionate about the outdoors, sport, hiking, camping, chasing sunrises, sunsets, and looking at the sky full of stars. You name it! Being outdoors in nature always leaves me with a happy heart and makes me feel more alive than ever. I love pushing myself, seeking out new sights, high mountain tops, and stepping out of my comfort zone.
With my passion for landscape photography, I hope to share the love I have for nature. I hope to inspire people from all over the world to get out and enjoy the beauty that the world has to offer. Inspire them to respect and take care of the one precious planet we have.
Whether you see my work online or framed on your wall, I sincerely hope you’ll be able to feel the undeniable deep love and passion I carry for nature.
With a never-ending list of countries, I still want to explore. I can’t stop to capture landscapes as it has never been seen before. To seek out hidden gems, the road less travelled, and share it all with you.
Before that …
I worked in the IT field for 14 years. As a Network Administrator, I was maintaining, modernizing the infrastructure and was involved in many important projects, mostly being part of a very small team in different industries: data centers, banks, newspapers, and broadcasting (radio station).
In 2021, I informed my employer that I have the intention to leave in a couple of months, to do what I am passionate about. Months later, I downsize my goods to store them in a locker and left my apartment before to start travelling.
On May 2022, I left Quebec (Canada) for South Africa, Nambia, and Cambodia. And now I am currently in New Zealand, living in a van full-time.
Certified Wilderness First Responder
By spending most of my time in the wilderness, on October 2021, I followed my first training to be Advanced Wilderness First Aid (40h split in 4 days). Then on November 2021, I decided to get my Wilderness First Responder certification (50h split into 5 days).
Both training and certifications were delivered by SiriusMedx, a well-known leader in First Aid training for the outdoors in Canada.
